Your Year-End Review

As we approached 2009, people loved this Year
End Review article, so let’s not reinvent the wheel. Wishing you your best year yet!

As the end of 2010 approaches and 2011 peeks around the corner, I’d like to share an exercise and resource to help bring growth and focus to the transition of the upcoming year – Your Year-End Review.
This exercise can be done alone or in groups,
dealing with business or personal aspects of you.

You need 1-2 hours of time, a comfy spot, a cup of tea or glass of wine, and pen and paper. Most of us are at computers or on PDA’s much of our day, and when you take it back to basics, you use different parts of your brain. You can make different connections.

Big Tip: Avoid multi-tasking (yes, shut the iPhone off) while doing this exercise.

Think about all of the areas of your life (e.g, work, relationships, education, health, etc.). You may want to mentally scroll or physically write them down. As you “look” through the various areas of your life, ask yourself the following 4 questions.

1.  What worked well?
2.  What didn’t work?
3.  What worked, but could have worked better?
4.  What do the answers to the above questions mean as you begin 2011?

When you create time for reflection without pressure or expectation, it’s amazing what insights will occur. I encourage you to write them down in addition to any actions that would help you further your own development and success in these areas for 2011.
If you want more structure to this exercise or want to take it a step further, I suggest  Your Best Year Yet. The author, Jinny S. Ditzler, recommends an in depth, user-friendly approach.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email. I wish you many exciting discoveries on this exploration!
